Welcome back to the Wheat King Alumni website
It has been awhile since you have seen an update to KINGS KORNER. We have been active over the past year and pleased with the events that took place.
On July 24, 25, and 26/08 we held an Alumni reunion that was a great success. The event began Thursday evening with a meet and greet at the Victoria Inn, followed by a day of golf at Shilo country club and an evening banquet and program. To wrap things up we held a pancake breakfast Saturday morning in the Manitoba room at the Keystone Centre. It was a great opportunity to reminisce and reunite with some old friends. The 1979 team was well represented and brought back some fond memories for many of those players in that era! The community had a chance to see some of their former heroes and gather up some autographs. Our Thanks go out to the Wheat King staff and our volunteer reunion coordinator Donna Hamm and others for their efforts in making this event a success.
On September 19, 2008 we held an Alumni Night for the 2008-2009 Season Home Opener. We were pleased to see many of you return to take in this annual event. We would like to encourage our alumni to get the word out that this annual event will occur in the latter part of September. It is an opportunity to see the current team prospects for the upcoming season. We get together prior to the game in the Viewing Lounge, have some finger food and a drink, and tell some tall tales. Tickets are handed out to each Alumni and guest to take in the game in the arena if that?s your preference. Look for information on this event on the website later on this fall.
Currently we are in the organizing stages of the 1st Annual Alumni Golf Tournament. This event will be held Thursday August 6/09 at Oak Island Resort. Proceeds of our event will go to support the BWK Education Fund. The event is open to the public and we encourage all of you to come and enjoy a great day of golf at one of Western Manitoba?s finest golf courses. The event will include transportation to and from the course (departing from Brandon), early morning breakfast at the course, followed by 18 holes of golf, a banquet, and a short banquet. It should be a great day!
