Moose Jaw, SK - The Moose Jaw Warriors scored early and often Saturday night, handing the undefeated Wheat Kings their first loss of the young season. Warrior forward Sam Fioretti opened the scoring 2:50 into the opening frame and finished off the night with his first career WHL hat trick.
Fioretti scored two of the three Warrior goals in the first period, Bryson Gore rounded out the scoring with his first of the season giving Moose Jaw a 3-0 lead heading into the second.
"Early in the game, we had an early power-play and you just could tell that we weren't ready to play," said Brandon Coach Dwayne Gylywoychuk on 88 CKLQ's post-game show. "After that, they just came at us and the bottom line is they wanted it more than us tonight, and we got taught a very valuable lesson."
Carter Hansen made it 4-0 scoring early in the second period. Eric Roy finally got Brandon on the board scoring at 8:25 into the period. Assists went to Jayce Hawryluk and John Quenneville, giving each 16 year-old forward their first career WHL points.
Jordan Wyton scored 1:54 seconds later to regain the commanding four goal lead. Fioretti ended the scoring for the game, with his third goal of the night.
Corbin Boes stopped 17 of 23 shots during the first two periods. Giving way to Curtis Honey who started the third period stopping all of the 10 shots he faced in the final frame.
The loss drops Brandon's record to 4-1.
