Regina, SK. -- The Brandon Wheat Kings completed a season opening weekend home and home series sweep of the Pats Saturday night with a 7-4 victory at the Brandt Centre in Regina.

The line of Tyrel Seaman, Alessio Bertaggia and Jason Swyripa combined for ten points to lead the Wheat Kings, who edged Regina 3-2 in the 2012-13 Western Hockey League season opener on Friday night in Brandon.

A St. Louis Blues' draft choice, Seaman had two goals and an assist, Bertaggia a goal and three helpers and Swyripa a goal and two assists as Brandon scored three straight goals in the second period to wipe out a 3-2 deficit and never looked back.

“It was a great start for our guys, and it’s just the beginning,” Brandon assistant coach Darren Ritchie told Bruce Luebke on CKLQ’s post-game show, “We just need to take it game-by-game and this is all we’re talking about. We have real good skating team, we believe, and they get on the puck. They hunt really well, they want to turn the puck over and we do a real good of job of doing that.”

Former Lethbridge Hurricane Nick Buonassisi, Daniel Asham and Tim McGauley, into an empty-net, also scored for Brandon while newly named captain Ryan Pulock added three assists.

Lineup changes on Saturday saw rookies John Quenneville and Kord Pankewicz make their WHL debuts. Pankewicz and Quenneville were first and third round draft picks in the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft in Edmonton.

The 2-0-0 Wheat Kings will now return home and prepare for Wednesday's game against the visiting Saskatoon Blades, the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup hosts. Puck drop is at 7pm and tickets for the game are on sale at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at keystonecentre.com
